as part of the project no. 22510071
„Foot care education program
for preschool aged children from the V4 countries”
Děčín, 12–20/01/2026
Place of implementation: Moskevská Kindergarten, Moskevská Street 1044/9
405 02 Děčín VI-Letná

This stage of the project focused on the practical implementation of an educational program addressed to preschool-aged children. The program covered topics related to proper foot exercises and the conscious selection of appropriate footwear. The planned activities were developed on the basis of a scenario prepared at an earlier stage of the project and were carried out using tools designed to convey knowledge in an engaging and accessible way to children, parents, and teachers.
The educational activities were carried out in a kindergarten randomly selected from all kindergartens operating in the city of Děčín. This made it possible to implement the program in the children’s natural educational environment and to apply the developed methods and tools.
As part of the implementation of this stage of the project, educational activities were carried out in the following order:
1. Workshop for teachers
A training session was organized for one group consisting of 10 teachers and was conducted by a representative of the Project Partner. The scope and duration of the training were identical to those of the training addressed to parents and covered topics related to proper foot exercises for children and the conscious selection of appropriate footwear.
2. Educational activities for preschool-aged children
Educational activities were conducted for children aged 3-6, organized into five groups of five children each. The sessions were led by a representative of the Project Partner. The program was designed to allow children to explore the topic through various forms of activity - touch, hearing, and practical exercises - which facilitated better acquisition of knowledge and skills. Each session lasted one teaching hour per group.
3. Workshop for parents
A training session for parents was also conducted, attended by one group of 15 participants. The session was led by a representative of the Project Partner. During the meeting, parents were provided with substantive knowledge on how to teach children proper foot exercises and the key aspects to consider when selecting appropriate footwear for children.
After the educational activities, each child received a leaflet entitled “My Healthy Little Feet,” designed to be accessible and engaging for young children. The material aimed to reinforce the knowledge gained during the sessions, remind children of the principles of proper foot exercises, and encourage them to perform the exercises regularly in their daily life. The leaflet contained simple instructions, allowing children to easily repeat the exercises both at home and at kindergarten, supporting the development of their feet and the care of their arches.
Each parent and teacher also received a leaflet entitled “Well-Arched Feet and Proper Shoes” which was a more detailed educational material tailored for an adult audience. It contained practical guidance on proper foot exercises for children, criteria for selecting appropriate footwear, and methods for supporting children in daily habits related to foot care. The leaflet allowed parents and teachers to deepen the knowledge gained during the training sessions and served as a valuable tool for helping children reinforce proper habits.
The educational materials distributed to children, parents, and teachers formed a cohesive set of teaching support resources, combining theory with practice and enabling the application of acquired knowledge in daily life, both at home and in kindergarten. Thanks to these materials, the entire educational process could continue beyond the sessions, enhancing the program’s effectiveness and allowing children to develop healthy habits from an early age.
The implementation of the program in the scope described above will allow for a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of the tools and teaching methods developed within the project. It will enable verification of their practical application in working with preschool-aged children, as well as an evaluation of the usefulness of the proposed solutions in educating parents and teachers. The conclusions drawn will serve to further improve the program and enhance its effectiveness and potential for use in other educational institutions.
The project is co-financed by the Governments of the Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.
