Physiology and Biochemistry of Exertion Laboratory

Activities of the Laboratory of Physiology and Biochemistry of Exertion
The Laboratory of Physiology and Biochemistry of Exertion is a unique place in Poland, where it is possible to perform comprehensive exercise stress tests for athletes, both in the laboratory itself and using mobile equipment in the closed sports zone of the University Athletics Center.

The range of tests that can be performed in the laboratory:

1) aerobic capacity on a treadmill, foot or manual ergometer (CORTEX Medical - METALYZER 3B CPET device, K5 by Cosmed, VO2Master),
2) anaerobic capacity on a foot or manual ergometer,
3) measurement of blood glucose and lactate concentration (Biosen C-Line),
4) blood gas tests with analysis of critical parameters (Radiometer ABL90 FLEX PLUS),
5) hematological tests (MYTHIC 18),
6) measurement of resting energy expenditure - indirect calorimetry (Fitmate from Cosmed),
7) body composition analysis (Tanita MC-780 P MA).

What particularly sets the lab apart from other scientific research centers is that it has a Bod Pod GS-X from Cosmed. The BOD POD is the world's only air displacement plethysmography (ADP) system that uses the principles of whole-body densitometry to determine body composition (fat and fat-free mass) in adults and children. Safe and non-invasive, it is the “gold standard” - guaranteeing high accuracy and excellent repeatability of subsequent tests.
Such equipment of the laboratory accounts for its research potential and the possibility of its use in a broad sense in the field of physiology and biochemistry of physical exertion.
