W dniach 18 maja – 18 czerwca 2026 roku, doktorant Szkoły Doktorskiej Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego w dyscyplinie Historia, mgr Arkadiusz Paruch odbył staż badawczy w paryskim Institut d’études avancées (Instytucie Studiów Zaawansowanych Francuskiej Akademii Nauk). Pobyt okazał się możliwy dzięki projektowi „UR an International PhD Student (program STER NAWA – umiędzynarodowienie szkół doktorskich).

Opiekunem naukowym stażu badawczego był Profesor Jawad Daheur, jeden z najbardziej cenionych na świecie historyków środowiskowych, w którego pracy badawczej istotną rolę odgrywa zgłębianie przemian ekosystemowych w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej na przełomie XIX i XX wieku.

Program stażu obejmował przede wszystkim kwerendę biblioteczną, realizowaną głównie w instytucji Humatheque (Bibliotece Humanistycznej, będącej jedną z największych w Europie książnic gromadzących materiały z owych dziedzin nauki). Jej zasoby pozwoliły zapewnić dostęp do przeszło kilkudziesięciu pozycji traktujących o przemianach ekosystemowych na terenie Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej w latach 1944-1989. Zgromadzony materiał posiada niezaprzeczalne właściwości porównawcze przy procesie badania polityki środowiskowej państw „Żelaznej Kurtyny” oraz stanowi cenne ogniwo dla przygotowywanej przez mgra Parucha rozprawy doktorskiej.

Niezwykle istotnym wydarzeniem w trakcie realizowanego stażu był wykład otwarty Doktoranta w trakcie międzynarodowej konferencji naukowej „Journee du CERNEC”, która odbywała się 16 czerwca 2026 roku i została zorganizowana staraniem paryskiego Centre d’Etudes Russes Caucasiennes Est-Europeennes et Centrasiatiques (Centrum Studiów nad Rosją, Kaukazem, Europą Środkową i Azją Środkową). Temat wystąpienia, poświęcony problemom i perspektywom badawczym związanym z badaniem polityki środowiskowej Polski w latach 1944-1989, spotkał się z życzliwym przyjęciem ze strony audytorium, czego dowodziły dociekliwie stawiane przezeń pytania do prelegenta.

Aktywność podczas realizowanego stażu przyczyniła się do poszerzenia horyzontów badawczych Doktoranta, jak i okazała się zaczynem współpracy na linii Uniwersytet Rzeszowski – Francuska Akademia Nauk. Partnerstwo między obiema instytucjami ma być w domyśle oparte na rozwoju międzynarodowych sieci badawczych i realizowaniu wspólnych projektów, organizacji międzynarodowych konferencji i paneli dyskusyjnych.

From May 18 to June 18, 2026, a PhD student of Rzeszów University Doctoral School in the discipline of History, Mr Arkadiusz Paruch, MA, completed a research internship at the Institut d’études avancées (Institute for Advanced Studies of the French Academy of Sciences) in Paris. This stay was made possible by the project “UR an International PhD Student” (STER NAWA program—internationalization of doctoral schools).

The academic supervisor for the research internship was Professor Jawad Daheur, one of the world’s most highly regarded environmental historians, whose research focuses on exploring ecosystem changes in Central and Eastern Europe at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The internship program focused primarily on library research, conducted mainly at the Humatheque (the Humanities Library, one of Europe’s largest libraries specializing in materials from these fields of study). Its holdings provided access to more than several dozen titles dealing with ecosystem changes in Central and Eastern Europe between 1944 and 1989. The collected material has undeniable comparative value for the study of environmental policy in the “Iron Curtain” countries and serves as a valuable resource for the doctoral dissertation being prepared by Mr. Paruch.

A particularly significant event during the internship was the Ph.D. student’s public lecture at the international academic conference “Journee du CERNEC,” which took place on June 16, 2026, and was organized by the Paris-based Centre d’Etudes Russes Caucasiennes Est-Europeennes et Centrasiatiques (Center for Studies on Russia, the Caucasus, Central Europe, and Central Asia). The topic of the presentation, which focused on the challenges and research prospects related to the study of Poland’s environmental policy from 1944 to 1989, was warmly received by the audience, as evidenced by the insightful questions they posed to the speaker.

His active participation during the internship helped broaden the doctoral student’s research horizons and served as the starting point for cooperation between the University of Rzeszów and the French Academy of Sciences. The partnership between the two institutions is intended to be based on the development of international research networks and the implementation of joint projects, as well as the organization of international conferences and panel discussions.
