Promotor / Supervisor

1. Opieka naukowa nad przygotowaniem rozprawy doktorskiej jest sprawowana przez:
   • promotora, lub
   • promotorów, lub
   • promotora i promotora pomocniczego.
2. Promotorem może być:
   • osoba posiadająca tytuł profesora lub stopień doktora habilitowanego;
   • osoba posiadająca dorobek naukowy lub artystyczny w zakresie problematyki badawczej podejmowanej przez doktoranta/kę;
   • osoba nieposiadająca tytułu profesora lub stopnia doktora habilitowanego, która jest pracownikiem zagranicznej uczelni lub instytucji naukowej, jeżeli organ UR wskazany do nadawania stopnia naukowego albo stopnia w zakresie sztuki uzna, że osoba ta posiada znaczące osiągnięcia w zakresie zagadnień naukowych, których dotyczy rozprawa doktorska;
   • nauczyciel akademicki zatrudniony w UR lub nauczyciel akademicki albo pracownik naukowy zatrudniony poza UR. Powołanie promotora zatrudnionego poza UR możliwe jest w przypadku, gdy UR nie zatrudnia osoby posiadającej dorobek naukowy lub artystyczny w zakresie problematyki badawczej podejmowanej przez doktoranta/kę.
3. Promotorem nie może zostać osoba, która w okresie ostatnich 5 lat:
   • była promotorem 4 doktorantów, którzy zostali skreśleni z listy doktorantów z powodu negatywnego wyniku oceny śródokresowej, lub
   • sprawowała opiekę nad przygotowaniem rozprawy przez co najmniej 2 osoby ubiegające się o stopień doktora, które nie uzyskały pozytywnych recenzji od co najmniej 2 recenzentów.  
4.  Między doktorantem/ką a promotorem nie może zachodzić konflikt interesów. Doktorant/ka i promotor nie mogą:
   • prowadzić wspólnego gospodarstwa domowego;
   • pozostawać ze sobą w stosunku pokrewieństwa, powinowactwa do drugiego stopnia albo w stosunku przysposobienia, opieki lub kurateli.
5. Promotor lub promotorzy powoływani są przez Radę Szkoły Doktorskiej UR na wniosek doktoranta/ki w terminie 3 miesięcy od dnia podjęcia przez doktoranta/kę kształcenia w Szkole Doktorskiej UR po pozytywnym zaopiniowaniu przez właściwą radę naukową dyscypliny. Doktorant/ka składa wniosek za pośrednictwem Dyrektora Szkoły Doktorskiej UR. Do wniosku doktorant/ka zobowiązany/a jest dołączyć:
   • pisemne oświadczenie kandydata na promotora:
     1. o wyrażeniu zgody na pełnienie funkcji promotora;
     2. o spełnieniu warunków określonych w ustawie oraz warunków, o których mowa w Regulaminie Szkoły Doktorskiej UR;
     3. o braku konfliktu interesów;
     4. o zapewnieniu właściwej opieki merytorycznej nad doktorantem/ką.
   • opinię rady naukowej właściwej dla doktoranta/ki dyscypliny dotyczącą kandydata lub kandydatów na promotora lub promotorów rozprawy doktorskiej wraz z ankietą dorobku naukowego kandydata/kandydatów na promotora/ów.

1. Scientific supervision over the preparation of the doctoral dissertation is exercised by:
   • a supervisor, or
   • supervisors, or
   • a supervisor and an assistant supervisor.
2. The supervisor may be:
   • a person holding the title of professor or the degree of habilitated doctor;
   • a person with scientific or artistic achievements related to research problems undertaken by the doctoral student;
   • a person who does not have the title of professor or the degree of habilitated doctor, but is an employee of a foreign university or scientific institution, if the UR body for the conferral of a scientific degree or a degree in the field of arts recognizes that this person has significant achievements related to scientific issues covered by the doctoral dissertation.;
   • an academic teacher employed at the UR or an academic teacher  or a researcher employed outside of the UR. The appointment of a supervisor employed outside of the UR is possible if the UR does not employ a person with scientific or artistic achievements related to research problems undertaken by the doctoral student.
3. The supervisor cannot be a person who, over the last 5 years:
   • has been a supervisor of 4 doctoral students who were deleted from the list of doctoral students due to a negative result of the mid-term evaluation, or
   • has supervised the preparation of a doctoral dissertation by at least 2 applicants for the doctoral degree who did not receive positive reviews from at least 2 reviewers.
4. There shall be no conflict of interest between the doctoral student and the supervisor. The doctoral student and the supervisor must not:
   • have a common household;
   • have a relationship of kinship, affinity up to the second degree, or a relationship of adoption, custody or guardianship.
5. The supervisor or supervisors are appointed by the Council of the UR Doctoral School at the request of the doctoral student within 3 months of the date of commencing education at the UR Doctoral School following a positive opinion by the competent scientific council of the discipline. The request shall be submitted by the doctoral student through the Head of the UR Doctoral School. The doctoral student is obliged to enclose the following:
   • a written declaration of the candidate for supervisor containing:
     1. consent to perform the function of supervisor;
     2. fulfilment of the requirements specified in the Act and the requirements referred to in The Rules and Regulations of the UR Doctoral School;
     3. absence of the conflict of interest;
     4. assurance of proper substantive supervision for the doctoral student.
   • an opinion stated by the scientific council competent for the doctoral student regarding the candidate or candidates for supervisor or supervisors of the doctoral dissertation, including a survey of the scientific achievements of the candidate(s) for supervisor or supervisors.
