Art as Language and Tool
The international scientific and artistic conference entitled "Art as a Language and Tool" focused on the following main aspects:
● Defining the capacity of art as a means of communication in the present day.
● Naming, comparing, or distinguishing the language of art against the backdrop of other forms of social contact.
● Studying the range of artistic communication and its effects on cultural and economic activity and individual reflection.
● Determining the nature and artistic features of the activity, as well as the influence of the environment on the shape, form of activities, and objects of art.
● Examining the assumptions, goals, strategies, and artistic programmes in terms of individual activities and broader trends.
● Reflecting on the role of art as a tool for deepening interpersonal relationships in their psychological and social dimensions.
The formulated assumptions were characterized by current discussions and considerations on the multifaceted nature and condition of contemporary art, its multi-layered nature, and constant changes in the language of communication with the contemporary audience. The conference was interdisciplinary, involving artists practicing various disciplines of art such as painting, graphics, critical art, multimedia, graphic design – illustration, film, documentary film, socially engaged art, as well as critics and art historians from various academic centers in Poland and abroad. The dynamics of the discussions that took place after the individual speeches of the speakers demonstrated that the topic of the conference is extremely important and inspiring. The generational confrontation of artistic attitudes, the presentation of artistic ideas and strategies proved that organizing conferences on this subject is very important and necessary for a wide audience – artists, critics, students, doctoral students, employees of cultural institutions, and collectors. The topic, as the organizers assumed, is extremely capacious and important, and the continuation of the conference meetings would be a significant event for the entire art and culture community.
The special guests of the conference were:
