Our History
The Faculty of Music traces its origins to 1985, when the Department of Musical Education was established at the Teachers College in Rzeszów in cooperation with the Academy of Music in Kraków. In 2000, the unit was transformed into the Institute of Music, reflecting its growing academic and artistic significance.
For many years, the Institute was located in the historic Lubomirski Palace, a distinguished landmark deeply embedded in the cultural heritage of Rzeszów. Today, the Faculty is housed at ul. gen. Jarosława Dąbrowskiego 83, in a building widely recognised as one of the most remarkable examples of post-war monumental architecture in the region. Its unique architectural character, combined with its contemporary academic function, creates an inspiring environment where cultural heritage and artistic innovation converge. As the home of the Faculty of Music, the building provides a distinctive setting that both honours tradition and supports the highest standards of contemporary music education and artistic development.
