03.11.2026, 100th Anniversary of Zdzisław Pawlak's Birth

This year marks a significant milestone for our community centered around the International Rough Set Society. We invite you to join us in honoring the legacy of Professor Zdzisław Pawlak (November 10, 1926 – April 7, 2006) on the centenary of his birth.

As the creator of Rough Set Theory and a pioneer of computer science in Poland, Professor Pawlak remains an enduring source of inspiration for computational intelligence researchers worldwide.

To celebrate his life and groundbreaking ideas, a commemorative Symposium held in conjunction with the Rough Set School will take place on November 10, 2026, at the Warsaw University of Technology.

Participation is free of charge for both onsite and online attendees. However, as onsite capacity is limited, advance registration via the official website is required. We highly encourage our community members to register early and take part in this landmark event.

Detailed information, the agenda, and registration forms are available at: https://zpawlak100.ii.pw.edu.pl/.

Note: The presentation delivered by a member of our RSPN group during the symposium in Warsaw is available at the following link:

03.11.2026, 25 Years of the RSPN Group

This year marks a dual milestone for our research group, celebrating both the 25th anniversary of the "Rough Sets and Petri Nets" (RSPN) group—active in Rzeszów since 2001—and the parallel centenaries of two giants of computer science: Professor Zdzisław Pawlak and Professor Carl Adam Petri.

Their foundational frameworks in Rough Set Theory and concurrent computation served as the direct catalyst for establishing our scientific school in Rzeszów. For a quarter of a century, our group has advanced research at the intersection of rough sets, fuzzy sets, Petri nets, and intelligent systems.

Further details regarding the history, milestones, and major scientific achievements of our community can be found here:
