List of documents required

An applicant for admission to the UR Doctoral School is required to submit scans of the following documents electronically to the University's admissions system (documents issued in a foreign language other than English will be submitted by the candidate together with the translation into Polish made by a sworn translator):

  1. the original or a copy of the diploma of completion of second-cycle studies or long-cycle studies leading to the degree of Master of Science, Master of Engineering or equivalent; in the case of graduates who do not yet have a diploma - a certificate of completion of second-cycle studies or long-cycle studies leading to the degree of Master of Science, Master of Engineering or equivalent (in the case of admission to the UR Doctoral School, the diploma or a copy of the diploma of completion of studies must be submitted immediately after its receipt by the student);
  2. a diploma supplement or a transcript of the studies for persons who do not possess a diploma supplement;
  3. a document confirming the candidate’s foreign language knowledge at level at least B2, according to the certificate list (Annex 2 to the Resolution on admissions);
  4. a CV;
  5. a list of the candidate's scientific or artistic achievements, and in the case of candidates with published works - a certificate issued by the Library of the University of Rzeszów or another university library about the candidate's publications with a full bibliographic record;
  6. information about the discipline in which the candidate plans to pursue the doctoral dissertation;
  7. information on the choice of the topic of the doctoral dissertation that the candidate plans to pursue during his/her training at the UR Doctoral School - a topic chosen from the current list of thematic proposals for scientific or artistic areas available on the UR Doctoral School website, approved by the Council of Disciplines;
  8. a description of the main assumptions of the research hypothesis;
  9. preliminary assumptions of the planned scientific research or artistic activity;
  10. an opinion of an academic staff member with a doctoral degree, doktor habilitowany degree or professor title on the candidate's scientific work to date. The author of the opinion cannot be a person who runs a common household with the candidate or remains with the candidate in the relation of kinship, affinity up to the second degree or in the relation of adoption, custody or guardianship;
  11. the candidate's proposal indicating the potential supervisor of the doctoral dissertation together with the justification of the indicated proposal in relation to the initial assumptions of the planned scientific research or artistic activities that the candidate intends to pursue during his/her studies at the UR Doctoral School;
  12. acceptance of the potential doctoral dissertation supervisor on taking scientific care of the candidate during his/her studies at the UR Doctoral School;
  13. an opinion of a potential supervisor on the initial assumptions of the candidate's planned scientific research or artistic activities;
  14. documents confirming the possession of at least one scientific or artistic achievement listed below for the current year and/or for the period of the last 4 calendar years preceding the recruitment procedure within the discipline in which the candidate plans to pursue his/her doctoral thesis, listed below (documented in accordance with Annex 1 to the Resolution on admissions):
  • scientific papers published in ranked scientific journals listed by Ministry of Science and Higher Education;
  • papers published in the proceedings of international scientific conferences;
  • papers published in the proceedings of national scientific conferences;
  • reviewed monographs published;
  • published chapters in reviewed monographs;
  • presentations at scientific conferences;
  • tabular list of artistic achievements: individual and group exhibitions, public presentation of artistic and design works, awards and distinctions;
  • tabular list of concerts or recordings on an electronic medium, extended by a description of interests and artistic, design and research plans in the context of the planned doctoral dissertation.

 

Other required documents (documents issued in a foreign language other than English will be submitted by the candidate together with the translation into Polish made by a sworn translator):

  1. A candidate in the artistic discipline: fine arts and art conservation is required to submit a portfolio of work expanded by description of interests and artistic, design and research plans in the context of the planned doctoral thesis.
  2. A candidate with the highest academic achievements, being a graduate of the first-cycle studies is obliged to submit, instead of a diploma of completion of second-cycle studies or long-cycle studies, the original or a copy of the diploma the original or a copy of the first-cycle studies diploma (with the average grade for the course of study) or a certificate of completion of the first-cycle studies issued by the Dean's Office (with the average grade for the course of study), and:
    • a description of the candidate's previous scientific or artistic achievements,
    • opinion of the head of the university unit on the candidate's current scientific or artistic achievements,
    • a list and copies of articles published or accepted for publication related to the candidate's research.
  3. A candidate with the highest academic achievements, being a student who has completed the third year of long-cycle studies, is obliged to submit, instead of a diploma of completion of second-cycle studies or long-cycle studies, a certificate of completion of the third year of a long-cycle master's degree studies (with the average grade for the course of study), and:
    • a description of the candidate's previous scientific or artistic achievements,
    • opinion of the head of the university unit on the candidate's current scientific or artistic achievements,
    • a list and copies of articles published or accepted for publication related to the candidate's research.
  4. A candidate with a diploma of studies completed abroad is obliged to submit a diploma that has been legalised or bear an Apostille clause or a certificate of recognition, by way of the nostrification procedure, of the equivalence of the diploma with the relevant Polish diploma of graduation and professional title - if it is required by generally applicable law in Poland. A university diploma obtained outside Poland and entitlement to apply in Poland for a doctoral degree are confirmed in the candidate's country by relevant authorities, i.e. usually agencies of the ministry responsible for higher education, embassies, consulates or domestic agencies. In the case of documents obtained abroad, the University may request a certificate from the candidate that the diploma of graduation entitles the country in which it was issued to study at the doctoral school (if such information is not included in the document entitling to undertake education). The University may also request information from the candidate on the scale of assessment of the documents referred to above.
