Assistant Supervisor

  1. Scientific supervision over the preparation of the doctoral dissertation is exercised by:
    • a supervisor, or
    • supervisors, or
    • a supervisor and an assistant supervisor.
  2. The responsibilities of the assistant supervisor include, in particular:
    • providing the doctoral candidate with the necessary substantive and methodological assistance in his/her scientific or artistic work;
    • supporting the supervisor in the supervision of the doctoral candidate;
    • giving opinions on the doctoral candidate’s Individual Research Plan.
  3. The assistant supervisor may be a person holding the doctoral degree and scientific or artistic achievements related to research issues undertaken by the doctoral candidate.
  4. There shall be no conflict of interest between the doctoral candidate and the assistant supervisor. The doctoral candidate and the assistant supervisor must not:
    • have a common household;
    • have a relationship of kinship, affinity up to the second degree, or a relationship of adoption, custody or guardianship.
  5. The assistant supervisor is appointed by Doctoral School Council at the request of the doctoral candidate. The request shall be submitted by the doctoral candidate through the Head of Doctoral School. The doctoral candidate is obliged to enclose the following:
    • a written declaration of the candidate for assistant supervisor containing:
      1. consent perform the function of assistant supervisor;
      2. fulfilment of the requirements specified in the Act and the requirements referred to in The Rules and Regulations of Doctoral School;
      3. absence of the conflict of interest;
    • a written declaration by the supervisor of acceptance of the assistant supervisor's candidacy;
    • an opinion stated by the council competent for the doctoral candidate regarding the candidate for assistant supervisor of the doctoral dissertation, including a survey of the scientific achievements of the candidate for assistant supervisor.
