On 16 July 2025, Rzeszów hosted Ireneusz Raś, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. The visit focused on key investments in sports infrastructure in the context of Rzeszów's preparations for the title of European City of Sport 2026.

In the afternoon, a press conference was held at the University Athletics Centre for Innovative Sports Research. The event was attended by:

• Ireneusz Raś, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism
• Adam Dziedzic, Member of the Polish Parliament (Sejm)
• Professor Adam Reich, Rector of the University of Rzeszów
• Konrad Fijołek, President of the City of Rzeszów
• Grzegorz Wrona, Deputy President of the City of Rzeszów
• Grzegorz Stęchły, Chair of the Social Council for Sport at the Mayor of Rzeszów’s Office

The main theme of the meeting was "Investments in Sports Infrastructure in the Context of the European City of Sport 2026." The event provided a platform for discussing the key needs of Rzeszów in the development of modern sports infrastructure and presented opportunities for funding projects from government sources and European funds.

The delegation had the opportunity to tour the facilities of the University Athletics Centre. The guided visit included a presentation of the training base and research laboratories.

The event offered an excellent opportunity to highlight the role of the University of Rzeszów in driving innovation in academic sport, as well as its engagement in both municipal and nationwide sports initiatives.
