On December 15, the University Athletics Center of the University of Rzeszów hosted distinguished representatives of the world of sports and local government.
The university was visited by Piotr Borys, Deputy Minister of Sport and Tourism, accompanied by four-time Olympic champion Robert Korzeniowski, one of the most outstanding figures in the history of Polish sport. The visit was also attended by the authorities of the city of Rzeszów, led by Mayor Konrad Fijołek.
The meeting was attended by the Rector of the University of Rzeszów, Prof. Adam Reich, as well as the authorities of the Faculty of Physical Culture: Dean of the Faculty Prof. Wojciech Czarny, Vice-Dean for Development and Promotion Paweł Król, Prof. UR.
During the visit, the infrastructure of the University Athletics Center was presented, which is one of the key places for the development of academic sports and the preparation of athletes at the highest level. The guests had the opportunity to learn about the potential of the facility, its importance for the education of students of physical culture-related fields, as well as the role it plays in promoting physical activity in the region.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for substantive discussions on the future of Polish sport, cooperation between academia and government and local government administration, and the further development of sports infrastructure in Rzeszów and the Podkarpacie region. Particular attention was paid to the city's development prospects in the context of the prestigious title of European Capital of Sport 2026, which Rzeszów will officially hold from January.
