University of Rzeszów Awarded Funding from the Foundation for Polish Science
A research project in the field of climate anthropology, jointly prepared by scholars from the University of Rzeszów and the Kyiv School of Economics, has received funding under the Foundation for Polish Science’s “FOR UKRAINE” programme.
The Foundation for Polish Science has concluded the 5th competition in the FOR UKRAINE Programme, aimed at Polish-Ukrainian research teams. Among the highest-rated projects was the initiative entitled
“Climate Change on the Polish-Ukrainian Borderland: Everyday Strategies and (Un)Resilience from an Anthropological Perspective”, prepared by Dr Tomasz Kośk from the Institute of History at the University of Rzeszów and Dr Tina Polek from the Kyiv School of Economics.
By decision of the Foundation’s Board of 6 August 2025, the project was awarded PLN 268,800 in funding. The funds will be allocated to research-related costs and will support the project over a period of 12 months.
The University of Rzeszów acts as the host institution for the project and will be the formal recipient of the funding.
Congratulations and significance of the project
The President of the Foundation for Polish Science, Professor Maciej Żylicz, on behalf of the Foundation and the international competition jury, extended his congratulations to the laureates. He emphasised the importance of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in addressing contemporary challenges, including climate change on the borderland of both countries.

The “FOR UKRAINE” programme of the Foundation for Polish Science supports Polish-Ukrainian research teams, enabling them to carry out joint scientific projects and to build lasting academic partnerships.
