University of Rzeszów at the 2025 Christmas Book Fair
On November 14–15, 2025, the 7th edition of the Christmas Book Fair took place at Millenium Hall in Rzeszów. Among more than 60 publishers and numerous accompanying events, the University of Rzeszów was prominently represented. The university was showcased through the University of Rzeszów Press, together with authors affiliated with the university and creators publishing via the academic press.
At the UR Press booth, visitors could explore the latest publications, including monographs, scholarly works, and popular science books authored by UR staff and collaborating authors. Fair attendees also had the opportunity to speak with the authors and receive autographs.
Among the many program events, particular attention was drawn to meetings with authors affiliated with the University of Rzeszów. Visitors had the chance to meet Jadwiga Hoff, author of Rozrywki mieszkańców międzywojennego Rzeszowa (Entertainment of the Inhabitants of Interwar Rzeszów), and Prof. Sylwester Czopek, former UR Rector, a distinguished archaeologist and museologist—both publishing through the University of Rzeszów Press. Complementing this segment of the program was a meeting with Maciej Sieklucki, a pediatrician and creator of literature and songs for children, whose publishing work develops independently of the University of Rzeszów Press.
One of the most anticipated highlights of this year’s Christmas Book Fair was a meeting with Prof. Andrzej Dragan—one of Poland’s most renowned physicists, a researcher of international renown, and a visual artist known, among other things, for the distinctive “Dragan effect.” The conversation with the professor was moderated by Associate Professor Józef Cebulski, Vice-Rector for Finance and Development at the University of Rzeszów, and Associate Professor Paweł Jakubczyk. The discussion focused on Prof. Dragan’s academic achievements, including research on the relationship between the theory of relativity and quantum mechanics, as well as contemporary challenges related to the development of artificial intelligence and its impact on science and society.
