Transformation Towards Excellence in Waste Management – The Practice of Local Governments in Podkarpacie

The event “Transformation Towards Excellence in Waste Management – The Practice of Local Governments in Podkarpacie” is the result of collaboration between academic, local government, and business communities.

Together, we strive to improve the quality of life in our region through sustainable waste management. In the face of growing challenges related to environmental protection and the management of natural resources, the search for effective and innovative solutions has become a priority. This event serves as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices, with the aim of inspiring and encouraging concrete action. It provides a space where representatives of different sectors can jointly discuss current issues, challenges, and opportunities connected with waste management in the Podkarpacie region.

During the event, a wide range of topics will be addressed, including: modern recycling and material recovery technologies; the role of environmental education in shaping social awareness; the importance of inter-municipal cooperation in building effective waste management systems; the impact of legal regulations on the functioning of the sector; and innovative business models in the circular economy.

The event was organised at the University of Rzeszów as part of the project “Excellent Podkarpacie – Comprehensive Environmental Research at the University of Rzeszów for the Benefit of the Region”, implemented under the programme “Regional Initiative of Excellence” (Agreement no. RID/SP/0010/2024/1). It contributes to Objective 5 of the project: strengthening the University’s position as a partner in the socio-economic environment.

The co-organisers are Gospodarka Komunalna in Błażowa Ltd. and the Purposeful Union of Municipalities “Eko-Logiczni” in Błażowa, with additional funding provided by Rekopol Packaging Recovery Organisation S.A.
