The University of Rzeszów is opening the AILAB@UR Artificial Intelligence Laboratory

On 15 April 2026, the University of Rzeszów hosted the official launch of the AILAB@UR Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. This new unit represents a significant step forward in the development of the university’s research potential and strengthens its position among the leading centres for artificial intelligence in Poland.

The opening ceremony began with a welcome address to the guests by the Dean of the Faculty of Exact and Technical Sciences, Dr Barbara Pękala, Professor at the University of Rzeszów. The Rector of the University of Rzeszów, Professor Adam Reich, MD, PhD, then took the floor, emphasising the importance of investment in modern technologies and the university’s role in building an innovative regional economy.

The highlight of the event was a presentation of the AI Laboratory’s activities, delivered by the head of the unit, Dr Jan G. Bazan, Professor at the University of Rzeszów. In his speech, he outlined the laboratory’s objectives, its technological infrastructure and a wide range of services aimed at both the academic community and partners from the socio-economic sphere. It was emphasised that AILAB@UR was established with the aim of bridging the worlds of science and business and supporting the implementation of artificial intelligence-based solutions.

The laboratory is equipped with advanced computing infrastructure, enabling the implementation of AI projects to a high European standard. This includes, amongst other things, state-of-the-art GPUs and high-performance computing systems, which allow for the local training and fine-tuning of artificial intelligence models without the need to use external cloud services. This solution ensures complete data security, which is of crucial importance for public institutions and companies operating in sensitive sectors.

During the event, a demonstration of the laboratory’s technological capabilities was also presented, illustrating the practical applications of artificial intelligence. Participants had the opportunity to see how modern AI tools can support data analysis, process automation and the development of innovative solutions for various industries.

A key element of the launch was the ‘Science in Business’ panel, dedicated to collaboration between the worlds of science and business, and the practical aspects of implementing artificial intelligence in enterprises. Among the invited guests was Jarosław Reczek, Director General of the Podkarpackie Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The establishment of AILAB@UR is a response to the growing demand for advanced AI solutions and the need to build a secure, local environment for working with data.
