On March 12, 2026, the Rector of the University of Rzeszów had the honor of welcoming Prof. Igor Cependa, Ph.D., to his office. Prof. Cependa was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Rzeszów in 2015.

Professor Igor Cependa is a distinguished Ukrainian historian and political scientist, and since 2012 has served as rector of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University in Ivano-Frankivsk. His academic work focuses, among other things, on research into Polish-Ukrainian relations in the 20th and 21st centuries, as well as on developing academic cooperation between universities in both countries.

The meeting was a courtesy visit and provided an opportunity to discuss the existing cooperation between the University of Rzeszów and the Vasyl Stefanyk Transcarpathian National University, as well as the prospects for its further development in the areas of research, teaching, and international initiatives.

During his visit, Professor Igor Cependa also signed the Guest Book of the Rector of the University of Rzeszów, leaving a commemorative dedication.

The visit of the honorary doctorate recipient was an expression of the long-standing, friendly relations between the academic communities of Poland and Ukraine and a confirmation of the importance of cooperation between the University of Rzeszów and research centers in Ukraine
