Students in the USA as Part of the Polish-American-Ukrainian NAWA IMPRESS-U Project
We are pleased to announce that as part of the international IMPRESS-U NAWA project, staff and students from the University of Rzeszów (UR) participated in a research visit to Austin Peay State University (APSU) in Clarksville, Tennessee, USA. The purpose of the visit was to conduct joint research on the properties of bioactive glasses, including aging, spectrofluorometric, and thermal (DSC) measurements.
During the stay, UR students: Justyna Urban and Wiktor Trojanowski from the Faculty of Exact and Technical Sciences, and Magda Lewandowska from the Faculty of Biotechnology, had the opportunity to work in international research teams alongside their colleagues from APSU. They also became acquainted with unique scientific equipment used in the laboratories. Additionally, as part of the project, the students visited New York City and Chicago.
Furthermore, project participants Associate Professor Józef Cebulski, Dr Yaroslav Shpotyuk, and Associate Professor Małgorzata Kus-Liśkiewicz, took part in a scientific seminar, during which they presented the results of their research on amorphous materials intended for biomedical applications. They also discussed the structure and focus of research conducted at the University of Rzeszów, as well as the university’s academic offerings.
As a continuation of this collaboration, a group of students from APSU, led by Professor Andriy Kovalskyi, began conducting research at the University of Rzeszów on May 12. Joint research projects will include studies on bioactive glasses and glass nanotechnology, among other topics.
We are confident that the experiences gained during the visit to Austin Peay State University will contribute to the further development of both the individual academic careers of the participants and future projects carried out within the framework of international cooperation.
