Scientific conference entitled “Local security in the Rzeszów agglomeration. Risk perception and the role of local government in building resilience within the civil protection system”
On March 5, 2026, a scientific conference entitled “Local Security of the Rzeszów Agglomeration. Risk perception and the role of local government in building resilience within the civil protection system.” The event was organized by the Rzeszów County Administrator and the Rector of the University of Rzeszów.
The conference was opened by the Rzeszów County Administrator, Dr. Krzysztof Jarosz, the Vice-Rector of the University of Rzeszów for Finance and Development, Dr. Józef Cebulski, Prof. UR, and the Vice-President of the City of Rzeszów, Dr. Maciej Ulita. The meeting brought together representatives of local governments, the scientific community, and experts dealing with security and crisis management issues.
One of the important points of the program was the symbolic handover of Starlink satellite communication kits to local government representatives, which are intended to support communication in crisis situations and strengthen the response capabilities of local communities.
During the conference, a number of expert presentations were given on topics such as the role of social communication and logistics in crisis management, the importance of satellite communications for the safety of residents, modern methods of critical infrastructure protection, and the possibilities of using anti-drone systems. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about the experiences of Ukrainian cities operating under threat of war and the practical aspects of civil defense structures' response to threats posed by unmanned aerial vehicles.
The conference provided an important forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience between the scientific community, experts, and representatives of public administration. Discussions focused on the challenges of building social resilience and developing effective mechanisms for responding to contemporary threats at the local and regional levels.
