Prof. Artur Mazur, MD, PhD, Vice-Rector for Collegium Medicum, received the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Rzeszów.
We are proud to announce that during the gala celebrating the 672nd anniversary of the founding of the City of Rzeszów, Prof. Artur Mazur, MD, PhD, received the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Rzeszów.
On January 18, a gala ceremony was held at the Filharmonia Podkarpacka to celebrate the 672nd anniversary of the founding of the City of Rzeszów. One of the highlights of the event was the awarding of the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Rzeszów to Prof. Artur Mazur , an outstanding representative of the academic community of the University of Rzeszów, Vice-Rector for Collegium Medicum UR, a respected scientist and doctor, who has been involved in the development of the city and the region for many years.
During the gala, Prof. Artur Mazur received the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Rzeszów on the stage of the Filharmonia Podkarpacka from the Mayor of Rzeszów. This honor is a recognition of his scientific achievements, professional activity, and contribution to building the prestige of Rzeszów as an important academic and medical center.
In the second part of the ceremony, representatives of the University of Rzeszów authorities—the Rector of the University of Rzeszów, the Director of the University Clinical Hospital, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Psychology, the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture, and the Director of the Rector's Office of the University of Rzeszów - congratulated the Professor and expressed their appreciation for receiving this prestigious title. On behalf of the academic community, Prof. Mazur was presented with a unique gift - a painting by Prof. Tadeusz Boruta from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Rzeszów.

The awarding of the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Rzeszów to Prof. Artur Mazur is a source of pride for the entire community of the University of Rzeszów. This honor confirms the significant role of the university and its employees in the life of the city and serves as an inspiration for future generations of scientists, students, and graduates.

Prof. Artur Mazur, MD, PhD, graduated from the Nicolaus Copernicus Medical Academy in Krakow. He obtained his doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. In 2010, he obtained his postdoctoral degree. In 2017, he was awarded the title of professor. For many years, he has been conducting research on pediatric endocrinology and diabetology, rare and very rare children's diseases in the Podkarpackie Province, and the role of nutrition in public health. He is a provincial consultant in the field of pediatric endocrinology and diabetology in Podkarpackie.
After graduating, he started working in Rzeszów (1990) at the First Pediatric Ward of the current Provincial Clinical Hospital No. 2. In 2010-2015, he was the deputy head of the ward, and since 2014, he has been the head of the Second Clinic of Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology. In 1994, he obtained his first degree specialization and in 1998 his second degree specialization. Since 2010, he has been specialized in endocrinology, and since 2015 in pediatric endocrinology and diabetology.
Since 2001, he has been working at the University of Rzeszów, initially as an assistant professor, since 2011 as an associate professor, and since 2017 as a full professor. In 2012, he was elected dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and since October 1, 2019, he has served as vice-rector for the Medical College of the University of Rzeszów.
Professor Artur Mazur is on the list of the most influential people in terms of the citation index of scientists. In the ranking (2023) of the most influential scientists in the world prepared by Stanford University and Elsevier, he was among 11 scientists from the University of Rzeszów.
