International Expert Conference “Emergency Medicine – Refugees – Civil Protection” Held in Jasionka Near Rzeszów

On 10–11 April 2025, the international expert conference titled “Emergency Medicine – Refugees – Civil Protection” is taking place at the ZEN.COM Expo – Exhibition and Congress Centre in Jasionka near Rzeszów. The event is organised by the Polish Centre for International Aid Foundation.

The conference is held under the honorary patronage of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Minister of the Interior and Administration, the Minister of Health, the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, as well as the Rector of the University of Rzeszów and the Vice-Rector for Medical College.

The conference aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience among emergency medical response teams and civil protection experts from across the European Union and beyond. Particular emphasis is placed on the expansion of civil protection capabilities, refugee movement management, large-scale civilian evacuations, and the evacuation of hospitals and patients.

Over 120 experts and practitioners in the fields of humanitarian aid and refugee assistance are participating in the event. Delegates represent more than 20 countries, including those actively involved in medical evacuations from Ukraine—among them the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), Norway, Sweden, Austria, Ukraine, Canada, the United States, Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

The University of Rzeszów’s Collegium Medicum is actively supporting the conference through its Medical Simulation Centre and student research societies, including the Student Scientific Circle for Innovative Research in Emergency Medicine, the Student Scientific Circle for Medical Simulation, as well as the Rzeszów branch of IFMSA – the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations.
