Professor Adam Reich, Rector of the University of Rzeszów (UR), visited the People's Republic of China as head of a University delegation comprising Professor Leszek B. Magalas, the Rector's Proxy for Development Strategy, and Associate Professor Edyta Łuszczki, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Psychology.

The visit to Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) represents a further step in the University of Rzeszów's ongoing internationalisation efforts and in the development of its academic partnerships across Asia. On 18 December 2025, Professor Adam Reich signed a series of cooperation agreements with GDUFS, one of China's leading higher education institutions specialising in the humanities, languages, and social sciences.

The agreements establish a framework for long-term academic collaboration between the two universities. They provide for the development of joint educational and research initiatives, student and staff mobility, collaborative research projects, the organisation of conferences, seminars and workshops, and cooperation in the design and delivery of academic programmes.

A significant outcome of the visit was the agreement to establish the Centre for Chinese Language and Intercultural Communication at the University of Rzeszów. The Centre will promote the study of the Chinese language while supporting the development of intercultural competence among Polish students. It is also expected to serve as a platform for academic cooperation, educational initiatives, and cultural exchange between the partner institutions.

The visit also provided an opportunity for strategic discussions with the leadership of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies on future areas of cooperation. Particular attention was given to expanding collaboration in disciplines of shared academic interest, including social work, social policy, public administration, regional development, and other fields addressing contemporary societal challenges.

The agreements signed during the visit reinforce the University of Rzeszów's commitment to expanding its international partnerships and creating new opportunities for research, education, and academic exchange with leading higher education institutions worldwide.
