On 25 June 2026, His Magnificence the Rector of the University of Rzeszów took part in the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 (URC 2026) in Gdańsk – the most important international forum dedicated to the reconstruction of Ukraine, co-organised by the governments of Poland and Ukraine. The conference brought together heads of government, representatives of the European Commission, ministers, international organisations, financial institutions, the academic community and the business sector from several dozen countries. Participants included, amongst others, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, whilst the Ukrainian delegation was led by Prime Minister Julia Swyrydenko.
His Magnificence the Rector of the University of Rzeszów took part in meetings and discussions on the future directions of Ukraine’s reconstruction and the development of cross-border cooperation, with particular emphasis on the role of higher education, science and healthcare in the country’s reconstruction and its integration into the European academic and research area. The University of Rzeszów, as an institution that has been actively cooperating with partners from Ukraine for many years, makes a significant contribution to building lasting scientific and educational relations and supporting the development of the skills necessary for the post-war reconstruction process.
The event was also attended by representatives from the Podkarpacie region: Władysław Ortyl, Marshal of the Podkarpacie Voivodeship; Teresa Kubas-Hul, Governor of the Podkarpacie Voivodeship; and Marcin Rusiniak, Director of the Fryderyk Chopin University Clinical Hospital in Rzeszów. Their presence underlines the region’s significance as a key partner in Polish-Ukrainian cooperation, particularly in the fields of science, medicine, public administration and regional development.
