Culture and Cognition in Language 4
On April 28-29 this year THE INSTITUTE OF ENGLISH STUDIES IS ORGANISING AN INTERNATIONAL LINGUISTIC CONFERENCE
CULTURE AND COGNITION IN LANGUAGE 4
Current approaches to discourse analysis
The upcoming fourth edition of the international academic conference Culture and Cognition in Language will be held for the first time outside of Rzeszów – in the picturesque setting in Polańczyk. Launched nearly a decade ago as a modest academic initiative, the conference – organised by the Institute of English Studies (celebrating its 30th anniversary this year) – has grown into a prestigious, biennial scholarly event with an international reach. This year’s edition, held under the theme Current approaches to discourse analysis, will bring together 54 participants representing 26 universities from 11 countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Austria, Croatia, Greece, Malaysia and Poland.
The conference programme includes keynote lectures by invited speakers as well as presentations by participants, addressing discourses related to a wide range of contemporary issues – from politics and the social construction of gender, to healthcare, environmental protection, migration, literature, culture, and the arts.
We are confident that Culture and Cognition in Language 4, co-funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), will serve as an inspiring and valuable platform for intellectual exchange and in-depth discussion on the interplay between culture, cognition, and language.
We warmly invite you to view the photo report from this event, which will be published at the beginning of May.
