Chotyniec Scientific Picnic at the Field Research Station of the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Rzeszów

On Wednesday, 11 June 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., an Archaeology and Aviation Picnic was held at the Field Research Station of the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Rzeszów in Chotyniec. The event was organised by the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Rzeszów in cooperation with the Foundation for the Support of Education at the Aviation Valley Association and the Radymno Commune Office.

The picnic was aimed at children and young people from the Radymno Commune. Approximately 500 participants attended the event, transported thanks to arrangements made by the local schools and the Commune. The main objective of the event was to promote science—both archaeology and technical sciences—in an accessible, engaging and attractive way for younger audiences.

The programme included:

  • Aviation Zone: flight simulators, physics experiments, and educational stands promoting the exact sciences.
  • Archaeology Zone: pottery workshops, archery demonstrations, presentations by historical reenactment groups (including depictions of ancient Greeks), excavation sites and other interactive attractions.

The picnic was officially opened with the participation of representatives from the Radymno Commune authorities, the Rector of the University of Rzeszów, and the Deputy Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The event proved to be a great success, both in terms of organisation and educational value. It serves as an example of effective collaboration between a higher education institution, public institutions, and organisations supporting education.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all those involved in organising the picnic and to the participants for their strong turnout and enthusiasm. We hope the event will inspire young people to further explore the world of science.
