A meeting with the ACES Europe accreditation committee was held at the University Athletics Centre.
On 16 June 2025, the University Athletics Centre at the University of Rzeszów was visited by representatives of the commission evaluating Rzeszów’s candidacy for the title of European City of Sport 2026.
Among the visiting delegates were representatives of ACES Europe – the organisation responsible for awarding this prestigious title. The purpose of the visit was to familiarise the commission with the city’s sports infrastructure, which reflects its commitment to promoting physical culture, a healthy lifestyle, and the development of sport at both local and academic levels.
This important initiative was launched by the Rzeszów City Council. The event was attended by members of the ACES Europe commission – Hugo Alonso, Lukas Vorel, and Andrea Junger – as well as the President of Rzeszów, Konrad Fijołek, City Councillors, local athletes including Olympians, and the Rector of the University of Rzeszów, Professor Adam Reich.
The University of Rzeszów was pleased and proud to host the commission on its premises. We are confident that our modern sports facilities, the engagement of the academic community, and our openness to initiatives promoting physical activity are valuable assets that support the city’s bid for this honourable title. We are delighted that such events take place in our spaces, reaffirming the University of Rzeszów as a key partner in efforts to promote sport and foster innovation in the field.
We are keeping our fingers crossed for Rzeszów and await the decision on the awarding of the European City of Sport 2026 title with great hope!
