Music in pedagogical, social and cultural contexts

The journal Music in Pedagogical, Social and Cultural Contexts was created by transforming the existing publishing series Music in the Pedagogical, Social and Cultural Context. Studies and Sketches, edited by Ewa Nidecka and Jolanta Wąsacz‑Krztoń, published by the University of Rzeszów Press, into an annual journal.

The situation on the Polish publishing market and the need to establish a journal with such a profile prompted the editorial board to make this decision. Apart from the change in publication frequency and the need to meet the requirements of academic periodicals, the thematic scope remains unchanged. We therefore hope that not only the group of authors wishing to publish in our journal will grow, but also the circle of readers interested in topics related to music and the wide range of issues arising at the intersection of disciplines connected with it.

The journal encompasses a broad thematic framework that includes multifaceted issues related to music and its pedagogical, social and cultural aspects. It is characterized by interdisciplinarity, which translates into a diversity of approaches to the topics discussed. The research area therefore includes various aspects of broadly understood knowledge about music, ranging from issues of music education to the role of music in society and in shaping civic and civilizational awareness. In addition, readers will find philosophical and aesthetic contexts of music, studies on distinguished educators and artists, as well as interpretations of selected musical works. Such a wide pedagogical, psychological, ethnomusicological, cultural and historical‑analytical perspective provides an impulse to explore topics and contexts within the musical arts that have not yet been fully examined.
