The Little University of Rzeszów at the Faculty of Exact and Technical Sciences
On January 24, 2026, the educational workshops were held at the Faculty of Exact and Technical Sciences as part of the Little University of Rzeszów. Academic teaching and research staff, along with students from the Institute of Physics, the Institute of Materials Engineering, and the Institute of Mathematics, took part in the implementation of this programme. The educational programme was carried out in three thematic blocks tailored to the age of the participants.
Physics around us ( Grades I-III)
The youngest participants, supervised by dr hab. Wojciech Szajna, prof. UR, and mgr inż. Stanisław Ryznar, explored the secrets of electrostatics, optics, and pressure. Using everyday tools, participants learned how to carry out physical experiments independently and safely, discovering science at home.
What`s squeaking in the wall? (Grades IV-V)
Students examined the structure of building materials under the guidance of dr inż. Dawid Jarosz and members of the "Nano Technik" Student Scientific Club. They located objects hidden inside walls using electromagnetic detectors, an optical microscope and precise density measurements. The reward for their engagement and the knowledge they gained was innovative snacks frozen in liquid nitrogen.
The members of the Student Scientific Club team include inż. B. Tabor, inż. D. Gudyka, W. Rudziński, A. Dytko, P. Rejman.
Let`s play colours with queen (Grades VI-VIII)
The oldest participants took part in workshops led by dr Renata Jurasińska. During these workshops students explored logical board games including Qwirkle, MacMahon Squares, Triplication and Combinator. They also became acquainted with the famous mathematical problem known as the "four-colour problem". The workshops proved that mathematics is not only about numbers, but above all a great form of fun and a training of logical thinking.
Coordination and organization: The workshops were coordinated by dr Anna Szpila, a member of the Program Council of the Little University of Rzeszów, with organizational support from Student Scientific Club of Mathematicians, represented by K. Blacha and M. Golik., K. Jasińska, P. Niemczyk, K. Turczyn. The safety of all participants was supervised by a qualified group of students from the Emergency Medical Services programme, and the professional photographic documentation was prepared by the Student Photography Club "LENS".
