The 60th Anniversary of the Acoustics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences

We are pleased to announce that on June 13–14, 2025, members of the Acoustics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences celebrated the 60th anniversary of its establishment. To mark this occasion, a scientific conference was held in Warsaw, and a monograph entitled "New Challenges in Acoustics. 60th Anniversary of the Acoustics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences" (Editors: prof. dr hab. Lucyna Leniowska - The Vice chairman of The Acoustics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, dr hab. inż.  Mirosław Meissner, prof. dr hab. inż. Jerzy Wiciak, published by the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw 2025) was published. The monograph is available at the Library of the University of Rzeszów. Prof. dr hab. inż. Lucyna Leniowska, dr hab. Krzysztof Szemela, prof. UR and prof. dr hab. Wojciech Rdzanek represented the University of Rzeszów at the ceremony.

The anniversary was an opportunity to present, in a concise form, the recent history of the Committee, its role in science, and the ways in which it has contributed to the development of acoustics in Poland. Over more than 60 years of activity, the Committee has undertaken numerous initiatives to support the advancement of acoustics and to promote the achievements of Polish acousticians, both nationally and internationally.

The role of the Acoustics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences is reflected in the work of its sections, its research activities, as well as its efforts in public outreach and community engagement. Not without significance is also the publishing activity. Together with  the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Committee for Acoustics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is the publisher of the highly regarded journal Archives of Acoustics (100 points on the list of journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education).
