We are delighted to announce that prof. Lucyna Leniowska, has been awarded the title of Honorary Member of the Polish Acoustical Society in recognition of her contributions to the development of acoustics. The Polish Acoustical Society is an association of individuals dealing with broadly understood acoustics, including its various departments and related disciplines. It was founded in 1963 in Poznań. The activities of the Polish Acoustical Society include the organization of conferences, supporting young scientists in the development of scientific careers, and popularizing and honoring outstanding achievements in the field of acoustics. One of the Society’s honors is the title of Honorary Member of the Polish Acoustical Society, which is conferred by the Congress of Delegates upon the recommendation of the Main Board. The Polish Acustiacl Society is currently an active, internationally recognized scientific organization. It has representatives in the most important European and world organizations associating acousticians. These include the European Acoustics Association, the International Commission for Acoustics, the International Congress on Ultrasonics, and the International Institute of Sound and Vibration. The Polish Acoustical Society organises major scientific congresses and conferences of global significance, such as the European Conference on Underwater Acoustics, the International Congress on Sound and Vibration (2009), the International Congress on Ultrasonics (2011) and FORUM ACUSTICUM (2014). A unique spirit of collaboration among Polish acousticians has developed around the annual Open Seminars on Acoustics (OSA), which were initiated in 1954 by Professor Marek Kwiek, who died tragically.
