Opening of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory
On 15 April 2026, at the Faculty of Exact and Technical Sciences of the University of Rzeszów, a ceremony was held to open the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory AILAB@UR under the slogan “Artificial intelligence for science and the economy.” The event brought together representatives of the scientific community, business sector and public institutions, highlighting the growing role of modern technologies in the development of the region. The ceremony began with a welcome address delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Exact and Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Barbara Pękala. Next, the Rector of the University of Rzeszów, Professor Adam Reich, took the floor and drew attention to the strategic importance of investment in the development of artificial intelligence for the future of science and the economy. A key point of the programme was the presentation of the AI Laboratory, delivered by the head of the unit, Associate Professor Jan G. Bazan. He presented the laboratory’s objectives, its technological infrastructure, and its range of services supporting both scientific research and cooperation with entities from the socio-economic environment. The participants also had the opportunity to become acquainted with the laboratory’s practical capabilities. In the next part of the event, a representative of external partners, Jarosław Reczek, Director General of the Subcarpathian Economic Self-Government Chamber, took the floor and expressed appreciation for the initiative undertaken. The newly established Artificial Intelligence Laboratory AILAB@UR represents an important step towards strengthening the research potential of the University of Rzeszów and developing innovative solutions that meet the needs of the contemporary regional economy.
