Algorithmic Competition - Algorithmic Emotions at the University of Rzeszów!

Three hours of racing against time, ten challenging tasks and the competition until the last second. On 3 November 2026, a new chapter was written at the University of Rzeszów. The first-ever edition of the University of Rzeszów Algorithmic Competition took place at that time. The event was organised by the students from the Computer Science Student Research Society at the University of Rzeszów, under the academic patronage of the Institute of Computer Science of the University of Rzeszów.

Building A0 was transformed into a true arena for programming competition. Two computer labs, a dedicated in-house network infrastructure, a professional scoring system, and the atmosphere just like at the country’s biggest competitions. In practice, this meant a race against time, in which brilliant ideas, precise coding, and nerves of steel were what counted. The system evaluated each submission within a few seconds, while the rankings changed in real time right up until the final minutes of the competition.

The Top Three Winners:

  • Mikołaj Maciejak
  • Wiktor Piwowar
  • Kacper Lubecki

The winner demonstrated his skills right from the start. He solved the first task flawlessly on his very first attempt, just ten minutes into the competition, and maintained the lead until the very end.

The winners can look forward to a prize that every young programmer dreams of. The top three participants will have the opportunity to compete in the Polish Academic Team Programming Championships (AMPPZ), the most prestigious programming competition for university students in Poland, where they will represent the University of Rzeszów!

Participants also had the chance to win prizes with a total value of nearly PLN 2,000.

Behind the event’s success was a well-coordinated team. The chief judge of the competition was dr inż. Przemysław Pardel, the academic supervisor of the Computer Science Student Research Society. The main coordinator of the whole undertaking was Hubert Fusiarz, the President of Student Research Society. They were supported by several members of Student Research Society, who took care of every detail, from preparing the tasks, through the infrastructure, to the organisation of the event. The competition was made possible thanks to the support of the University authorities and its partners, Sagitum S.A. and Cetus Pro. The Algorithmic Competition proved that our university is full of talented students who simply needed a stage to shine. We have built that stage, and this is only the beginning! Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all the participants! We would also like to invite you to the Algorithmic Competition  2027, which will take place next spring!
