The undertaken activities in the laboratory have as object development of manufacturing technology of materials used to cover:

  • active ie. layer changing its properties as a result of external factors; including multilayer systems are sensitive to changes in lighting, external electrical potentials, magnetic field, mechanical deformation, chemical substances;
  • passive ie. protective layer to increase the life of coated components, including mutiwarstwy used for tools, protective layer of engine components lifting resistance to high temperature and corrosive environment adverse effects.

As part of the laboratory are 7 labs. The coatings are produced by PVD method: magnetron sputtering, plasma, thermal, laser; and modified by heat treatment. The resulting coatings are then analyzed in terms of changes in the microstructure (based on microscopic examination of LM, SEM, TEM, SEM / EDX, TEM / EDX, X-ray diffraction XRD) and changes in the physical, mechanical and utility (based on dilatometric tests, spectrophotometric measurements, measurements electron paramagnetic resonance measurements of micro, nanohardness, on the basis of standard strength tests).
