The graduate of a three-year BA course

1. Graduate profile / professional perspective:

• Developing language skills to min. C1 level of attainment in English;

• Developing skills in a second language to the level B1;

• Providing essential background knowledge in literature, culture and the history of English-speaking countries;

• Providing a sound background to the history and structure of the English language;

• Developing fundamental translation skills;

• Developing basic philological skills in the analysis and interpretation of  literary texts, and enhancing skills in the preparation of both written and oral compositions;

• Developing research skills and critical thinking.

Employment Opportunities

  • In the case of TEFL specialization the graduate is entitled to work as a teacher of English in kindergarten and primary school.
  • In the case of the Translation Studies specialization the graduate has a firm grounding to work as a translator and interpreter.

2. Graduate profile / professional perspective:

The graduates has:

• Language skills at C2 level;

• A second language at B2 level;

• Specialised knowledge of literature, culture and the history of English-speaking countries;

• Detailed knowledge of the history and structure of the English language;

• Advanced translation skills in a variety of specialised areas (legal, business, literary, etc.);

• Advanced philological skills in the analysis and interpretation of literary texts, and the ability to prepare to a high level both oral and written compositions;

• Elevated research and critical thinking skills.

Employment Opportunities

  • In the case of the TEFL specialization, an MA graduate is entitled to work as a teacher of English in kindergarten, primary school, and Junior and Senior High School, as well as working in private language schools both within Poland and abroad.
  • In the case of the Translation Studies specialization the graduate is prepared to work as a translator and interpreter, and has a solid foundation for undertaking the postgraduate course to become a certified sworn translator.
  • A wide variety of firms demand excellent language skills as a basis for employment, thus the student of English Philology can anticipate a wide variety of job opportunities upon graduation.
