Days of Solidarity with Ukraine 2026. The University of Rzeszów creates a space for dialogue, education, integration, and building mutual understanding.
Four years after the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Rzeszów once again became a place of international solidarity. The celebrations, organized jointly by the Polish and Ukrainian communities, were not only an opportunity to commemorate the victims of the war, but also an expression of appreciation for the heroism of Ukraine's defenders and a testimony to the unity of both nations.
Although the Kremlin had announced that its “special operation” would be over in a few days, Ukraine's heroic resistance has now lasted four years. During this time, Rzeszów has played a special role as a city directly involved in helping refugees, organizing humanitarian aid, and providing logistical support to Ukraine. These activities have become a permanent part of the history of the city and its institutions, including the University of Rzeszów.
The two-day celebrations, which took place on February 22 and 24, 2026, brought together representatives of local authorities, the academic community, social organizations, and residents of the region.
February 22, a day of culture, debate, and hope at the University of Rzeszów
The first part of the celebrations took place in the main building of the University of Rzeszów at 16C Rejtana Street. The program of the event included meetings, debates, and cultural initiatives, which provided a space for reflection on four years of war and discussions about the common future of Poland and Ukraine.
It was emphasized that the Ukrainian community has become an integral part of the local academic and social environment, contributing to the creation of today's Rzeszów. Since the beginning of the conflict, the University of Rzeszów has been actively involved in aid activities, offering support to students, scientists, and families affected by the war, and creating a space for dialogue and integration.
The Rector of the University of Rzeszów, Prof. Adam Reich, MD, PhD, received thanks from the Ukrainian DIM Foundation in Rzeszów, which expressed its gratitude for the University's openness to building a space for dialogue, education, and cooperation conducive to integration and mutual understanding. In particular, the support for the “Days of Solidarity with Ukraine 2026” initiative, which contributed to strengthening ties between the academic communities of both countries, was appreciated.
