Institute of Mathematics

The Institute of Mathematics is an academic unit within the Faculty of Exact and Technical Sciences at the University of Rzeszów. It comprises a team of 20 academic staff members, including 3 full professors, 5 associate professors (habilitated doctors), 10 PhD holders, and 2 lecturers with a master’s degree. Additionally, the Institute employs 2 engineering and technical specialists.

The Institute is structured into four departments:

  • Department of Functional Analysis
  • Department of Complex Analysis
  • Department of Applied Mathematics
  • Department of Functional Equations

Research conducted at the Institute covers a broad spectrum of topics, including:

  • The structure of Fréchet spaces over non-Archimedean valued fields and operator theory on such spaces
  • Topological and linear-topological properties of spaces of continuous functions on topological spaces
  • Topology of infinite-dimensional manifolds
  • Best approximation and operator calculus in Banach spaces
  • Geometric theory of analytic and harmonic functions
  • Conformal mappings and their generalizations
  • Nonlinear boundary and initial value problems for ordinary differential equations
  • Applications of functional equations and inequalities in decision analysis

The Institute provides academic and instructional support for mathematics courses offered by the Faculty of Exact and Technical Sciences. The mathematics programme has received positive evaluations from the Polish Accreditation Committee for both first- and second-cycle studies, with a general academic profile. The programme is coordinated by a dedicated team led by the Deputy Director of the Institute, ensuring a high standard of education.

The Institute also hosts the Mathematicians’ Scientific Student Club, which fosters student engagement in research and academic activities.

In addition to its educational mission, the Institute collaborates with the Statistical Office in Rzeszów on joint research initiatives and the exchange of information regarding planned scientific projects.

As part of its outreach activities, the Institute works closely with the Sub-Carpathian Teacher Education Centre in Rzeszów, contributing to the organization of conferences, seminars, workshops, summer schools, and dedicated lectures for mathematics teachers and students at various educational levels.
