Agata Wiesiołek is a biotechnology-trained executive with 19+ years of leadership in clinical research across therapeutic areas and phases. She specializes in portfolio delivery, crossfunctional transformation, and medical monitoring. Agata leads teams of Directors, Associate Directors, and Senior Scientists, and currently serves as Executive Director, Portfolio Delivery & Medical Monitoring Unit, and Warsaw Site Leader for Alexion - driving site strategy and strengthening Alexion’s internal and external R&D footprint.

Lecture: Basics of Drug Development 24 March 2026 10:00am.

This session provides a concise, endtoend overview of the drug development lifecycle with focus on four core domains:

· Market: how the competitive landscape is shaped and how interdependencies influence successful launch and reimbursement.

· R&D Strategy: how scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial insights inform strategic choices.

· Concept: target/product concept generation, proofofconcept planning, and go/nogo criteria.

· Clinical Phases: objectives, design considerations, evidence requirements, and decision points from Phase I through postapproval.

 

The lecture is designed to help students understand what clinical trials are, how they fit within the broader development pathway, and what factors drive successful development and innovation.
