Rzeszów University took an active part in the international project "Empowering Youth: Democracy in Action," held from 7 to 13 December 2024 and bringing together students from Poland, the Czech Republic and Ukraine. Co-financed by the governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through the International Visegrad Fund, with additional support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, the project was organised by the NGO Educational and Social Innovation together with West Ukrainian National University, the Czech Technical University in Prague, and Rzeszów University. MVSC students first hosted participants in Rzeszów, then travelled as a group to Prague to continue the project on new ground. The programme ran in two connected parts: "Development of Social Activism" in Rzeszów from 10 to 13 December, built around practical training, teamwork on social projects and local community problem-solving, and "Foundations of Democracy" in Prague from 7 to 10 December, made up of lectures, workshops and sessions on democratic principles and intercultural communication. Participants left with a deeper understanding of democratic processes, sharper project-management skills and genuine cross-cultural experience. Project coordinator Prof. Mariana Sokol, of Rzeszów University, highlighted the importance of building lasting youth partnerships, and students themselves said that working with peers from other countries inspired them to create initiatives that could change their own communities for the better.
