The 5th National Conference “Our Native Language: The World of Emotions”
On 23–24 February 2026, the 5th National Academic Conference “Our Native Language: The World of Emotions” was held at the Institute of Polish Studies and Journalism at the University of Rzeszów. The event was organized as part of the celebrations of International Mother Language Day and the 25th anniversary of the University of Rzeszów.
The conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the University of Rzeszów, Prof. Adam Reich, MD, PhD, who, in his congratulatory letter, emphasized the rich and diverse program of the event. The meeting was officially opened by Dr. Agnieszka Myszka, Professor at the University of Rzeszów and Dean of the Faculty of Philology, together with Dr. Krystyna Gielarek-Gorczyca, Deputy Director for Teaching Affairs at the Institute of Polish Studies and Journalism. Opening remarks were also delivered by Prof. Kazimierz Ożóg.
The conference brought together scholars from numerous academic centers across Poland, including Katowice, Kielce, Kraków, Krosno, Lublin, Poznań, and Warsaw, as well as researchers from the host university. Participants included experienced academics, early-career researchers, doctoral students, and students, as well as independent scholars representing fields such as linguistics, media studies, cultural studies, and literary studies.
During the two-day meeting, over forty papers were presented, all related to the main theme of the conference – emotions as a fundamental aspect of human life. The programme consisted of thematic sessions covering areas such as linguistic pragmatics, media linguistics, onomastics, psycholinguistics, literature, culture, and communication.
The presentations were followed by lively discussions that often continued beyond the sessions in informal conversations. Participants emphasized the high academic level of the papers, the efficient organization of the conference, and the friendly atmosphere that encouraged the exchange of ideas and the establishment of new academic contacts.
The conference concluded with a plenary discussion summarizing the event. Participants expressed hope that the initiative would continue in the coming years, highlighting the importance of such meetings for fostering collaboration and inspiring further research within the academic community.
