“Practice That Works, Theory That Inspires!” - Conference on Specialist Languages at the Faculty of Philology
On 20 March 2026, the Faculty of Philology hosted the academic and educational conference “Specialist Languages – Practice and Theory VI”, organized as part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the University of Rzeszów.
The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the University of Rzeszów, Professor Adam Reich, MD, PhD, and Dr Agnieszka Buk, Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rzeszów.
Specialist languages have a profound impact on quality of life, enabling precise communication, fostering innovation, and supporting the effective implementation of technological, medical, and social solutions. Their use contributes to sustainable development by facilitating the introduction of standards and promoting efficient cooperation between different sectors.
The aim of the conference was to create a forum for discussion and exchange of experience among practitioners, teachers, translators, representatives of business and public administration, as well as scholars and researchers working in the fields of specialist languages, corporate communication, and international cooperation.
The conference programme comprised four thematic sections: linguistic research on specialist languages, the teaching of specialist languages, specialist translation, and workshops devoted to specialist languages. During the sessions and workshops, participants discussed, among other topics, legal and medical discourse, as well as the challenges arising from the development of artificial intelligence.
The plenary lectures, which gave the conference its particularly inspiring and distinguished character, were delivered by Professor Edyta Więcławska of the University of Rzeszów and Professor Artur Kubacki of the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków.
The organizers of the event – the Centre for Foreign Language Teaching and Certification, the Institute of Slavonic Studies, and the Specialist Languages Unit of the Institute of English Studies – would like to thank all participants for their engaging lectures and workshops, stimulating discussions, valuable insights, and exchange of experience. At the same time, they warmly invite both researchers and practitioners to take part in future editions of the conference.
