The title of the presentation:
A City in a Dream: Understanding San Francisco
Tara Seekins — is a teacher, scholar, and school leader from the San Francisco Bay Area. She has served as an English instructor in the college program at San Quentin State Prison and as a lecturer in the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Classics from Smith College; a Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Colorado, Boulder; and a Master’s degree in Education and a Doctorate degree in Law from the University of California, Berkeley.
Tara was honored to join the Fulbright-Hays delegation to China in 2015 and to complete a Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Fellowship at Indraprastha College for Women in Delhi, India in 2023. She has participated in fellowships through the National Endowment for the Humanities in New York City and through Fund for Teachers in Kumasi, Ghana. She is currently serving as an English Language Fellow with the United States Consulate in Poland and as an instructor at the University of Rzeszów.
Each of these experiences has reinforced her belief in the transformative power of education as well as her passion for developing culturally relevant curricula, collaborating with diverse colleagues, and encouraging students to be engaged citizens of the world.
