ASECU Youth Winter School
Participation of University of Rzeszów Students in the 3rd ASECU Youth Winter School
From 23 to 29 March 2025, students of the University of Rzeszów—Izabela Wilk, Linda Servigne, and Dawid Bieńko—members of the UR Business Leaders Scientific Club, together with their academic supervisors, Hubert Leśniak, MA, and Asssociate Professor Bogdan Wierzbiński, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Finance, participated in the 3rd ASECU Youth Winter School, organized by the Association of South Eastern Europe Economic Universities (ASECU). The event was held in the picturesque village of Sofiko, located in the Peloponnese region of Greece, and brought together 140 students from ten countries, including Greece, Albania, Armenia, Romania, China, Ukraine, Poland, and Italy.
The Winter School, held under the theme “Future Technologies and Artificial Intelligence for a Digital Economy and Society,” served as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences concerning the impact of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence on the digital economy and contemporary society. The programme featured presentations by multinational student teams and lectures delivered by experts representing diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
The University of Rzeszów was prominently represented by its academic staff. In his lecture titled “European Union Economy – Poland: Directions of Development and Challenges,” Associate Professor Bogdan Wierzbiński, discussed the developmental trajectories of the Polish economy in the context of current challenges facing the European Union. Mr Hubert Leśniak presented on “Economic Education and Financial Literacy,” highlighting the critical role of financial competence and economic awareness in modern society.
Students from the University of Rzeszów actively contributed to the academic discourse by presenting the results of research conducted in international teams. Dawid Bieńko and his colleagues explored the issue of technological inequality in their presentation “The Digital Divide: Those with Access to Technology and Those Left Behind.” Izabela Wilk and her team addressed ethical and security concerns in “Cybersecurity and Ethics in a Globalised, Interconnected World,” while Linda Servigne and her collaborators examined the macroeconomic implications of digital transformation in “The Impact of Digitisation on National Economies.”
Participation in the 3rd ASECU Youth Winter School provided an invaluable opportunity for students and staff of the University of Rzeszów to engage in international academic collaboration, broaden their knowledge, and promote the University on the global stage. Their active involvement and commitment to discussions on the future of technology and economics reflect the institution’s dedication to fostering excellence in education and research.
