Staff of the Collegium Medicum at the Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD - European Association for the Study of Diabetes)
The annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) was taking place in Vienna starting on 15 September 2025. Each year, it brings together several thousand participants. During the congress, results of new studies are presented and discussed not only in the field of diabetology, but also in related disciplines more or less closely linked to diabetes: obesitology (the science of obesity, its causes, consequences, and treatment), cardiology (most people with diabetes die from cardiovascular disease), nephrology, and even gastroenterology (MASLD – metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease).
This year, representatives and staff of our University’s Collegium Medicum are also taking an active part. On Thursday, 18 September, Dr. habil. Mariusz Dąbrowski, Professor at the University of Rzeszów, moderated one of the short oral presentation sessions. Dr. Anna Juza from the Faculty of Medicine presented a study on the risk factors for giving birth to infants that are large for gestational age (LGA) among women with type 1 diabetes, while Ms. Kinga Wilk from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Psychology presented research on disturbances of hearing, taste, and smell among people with diabetes.
The EASD congress lasted until Friday, 19 September, but our representatives were already “warning” that next year in Milan they also planned to present their next achievements.
