Dr. Paweł Musiał, MD, PhD, Takes Part in a Mission Organized by the Polish Center for International Aid Foundation

We are pleased to inform that Dr. Paweł Musiał, MD, PhD, a staff member of the Department of Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine at the Collegium Medicum of the University of Rzeszów, carried out a mission at ALERT Hospital in Addis Ababa from October 13 to 24, 2025, as part of a project organized by the Polish Center for International Aid Foundation in Ethiopia.

Dr. Paweł Musiał participated in this mission as a lecturer and instructor of an advanced-level medical course for nurses and paramedics working in ambulances in Ethiopia. The course included theoretical classes, practical exercises, and medical simulations covering adult and pediatric emergency conditions in prehospital care.

As the lead instructor, Dr. Musiał was responsible for supervising the implementation of individual thematic modules, which included: basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS/AED and ACLS), airway management techniques, physical examination, principles of obtaining peripheral intravenous access, drug administration and fluid therapy, trauma assessment, use of equipment for securing trauma patients, management of massive hemorrhage, evacuation techniques from hard-to-reach locations, primary decontamination of casualties, prehospital triage, principles of medical transport, and crisis management procedures.

The medical mission provided an opportunity to adapt international emergency medicine standards to local conditions, systematize participants’ knowledge in this field, and exchange experience in emergency medicine and medical rescue.
