An expert from Rzeszów will lead the Cardio-Oncology Section of the Polish Cardiac Society
Dr. hab. n. med. Katarzyna Styczkiewicz, Associate Professor at the University of Rzeszów, cardiology coordinator at the Fryderyk Chopin University Clinical Hospital in Rzeszów, and regional consultant in cardiology, has been elected Chair-Elect of the Cardio-Oncology Section of the Polish Cardiac Society (PTK). This prestigious recognition confirms her key role in advancing interdisciplinary care for patients with cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
Prof. Styczkiewicz has long been involved in both scientific and clinical work at the intersection of cardiology and oncology, promoting the idea of integrated treatment and prevention of cardiac complications in oncology patients.
"Cardio-oncology is a response to the real needs of modern medicine. My goal is to build an environment in which oncology patients are guaranteed comprehensive cardiological care — from diagnosis, through treatment, to long-term follow-up," says Prof. Styczkiewicz.
The newly elected Chair-Elect also emphasizes the importance of collaboration and education in the further development of the field.
"Being elected Chair-Elect of the PTK Cardio-Oncology Section is not only an honor, but above all, a responsibility. I want to contribute to the continued growth of this specialty by supporting knowledge exchange, establishing standards, and fostering integration across medical communities," she adds.
Prof. Styczkiewicz’s term as Chair-Elect will last two years, after which she will assume the role of Chair of the Section. During this period, various initiatives are planned, including training programs, cooperation with clinical centers, and the development of scientific research projects.
