Together Toward the Future: Young People from Poland and the USA on Education, AI, and the Labor Market
On 22nd October 2025, a meeting of students and teachers from Poland and the United States took place at the Faculty of Economics and Finance of the University of Rzeszów. The event and program were organized by Prof. Anna Barwińska-Małajowicz, PhD, which was particularly appreciated by the guests from Holy Cross College, Notre Dame.
The meeting was opened by Prof. Bogdan Wierzbiński, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Finance, and Prof. Cosette Fox, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology at Holy Cross College, Notre Dame (Indiana, USA). In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the development of intercultural competencies among students.
The first part of the meeting, titled “The Labour Market in the USA and Poland: Data and Reflections,” focused on analysing current trends in the labour markets of both countries. The speakers were Dr. George Mokrzan from Holy Cross College, as well as Prof. Anna Barwińska-Małajowicz, PhD, and Radosław Pyrek MSc, from the University of Rzeszów. Their presentations discussed key labour market data and the impact of automation, digitalization, and artificial intelligence on employment.
The second session aimed to present the educational systems of the USA and Poland. Presentations were given by Morgan Mackie from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA, and Mateusz Małecki from the Faculty of Economics and Finance at the University of Rzeszów. They offered the perspectives of young people studying in different educational systems, enabling students to compare teaching models and the funding structures of higher education in both countries.
The meeting also included interactive workshops. Participants, working in international teams, shared educational experiences and discussed the role of artificial intelligence in the learning process, as well as the importance of education for the labour market. The results of their teamwork were presented as conclusions and proposals for further cooperation between the universities.
The meeting took place in a friendly and creative atmosphere that encouraged the exchange of experiences, reflections, and ideas.
