Exam confirming the knowledge necessary to undertake studies

Scope of the Examination:

The purpose of the examination is to assess the candidate’s level of knowledge in biology and chemistry required to undertake studies in the Medicine programme. The examination evaluates understanding of fundamental biological processes, as well as mechanisms of inheritance and evolution, which are essential for comprehending topics in human biology, physiology, biochemistry, and other subjects included in the medical curriculum.

• Biology Exam Topics:

Basics of cytology (structure and function of cellular organelles; cell cycle, mitosis, meiosis); human biology (structure and function of the following systems: nervous, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, reproductive, endocrine, and immune systems; homeostasis and mechanisms maintaining it).

• Chemistry Exam Topics:

Fundamentals of chemistry (nomenclature of chemical compounds, balancing chemical equations, calculation of molar mass); basic acid–base reactions; calculation of the pH of acidic and basic solutions; properties of elements in the periodic table.

The aim of the examination is not only to verify factual knowledge but also to assess the ability to think logically in a biological context, analyze and synthesize information, and understand processes occurring in living organisms, which is essential for further medical education.

• Form of the Examination:

The examination will be conducted online via the Testportal platform. The test will consist of 20 single-choice questions (10 in biology and 10 in chemistry). The time allowed for the test is 30 minutes.

• Technical Requirements:

Candidates are required to have a stable internet connection and access to a computer or laptop equipped with a functioning webcam and microphone. It is recommended to use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers. The examination must be taken in a well-lit room without the presence of third parties. Prior to the examination, the candidate may be asked to verify their identity (e.g., by presenting an ID to the camera).

• Examination Rules:

During the examination, it is strictly prohibited to use any supplementary materials (books, notes, mobile devices, internet search engines, etc.) or to receive assistance from other persons. Candidates are required to complete the test independently. In the event of an internet connection interruption, the candidate should immediately attempt to resume the examination session. Any suspicion of violation of examination rules will be recorded and investigated.

• Consequences of Rule Violations:

Any attempt to cheat, use unauthorized aids, or disrupt the examination process will result in disqualification. Failure to pass the examination or absence during the examination will result in exclusion from further recruitment procedures for the Medicine programme.
