Exam confirming the knowledge necessary to undertake studies

The exam aims to assess the knowledge and skills in elementary mathematics necessary for studying in Mathematics. It covers the basic areas of school mathematics, such as algebra and arithmetic, mathematical analysis, geometry, as well as classical probability and statistics.

Scope of Exam Topics

  1. Real numbers – roots, powers, logarithms, numerical intervals, absolute value, divisibility of integers.
  2. Algebraic expressions – operations on polynomials, notable algebraic identities.
  3. Equations and inequalities; systems of equations – linear, quadratic, polynomial and rational equations and inequalities, systems of linear equations.
  4. Functions – basic properties of functions, graphs of functions and their transformations, homographic, exponential and logarithmic functions.
  5. Sequences – monotonicity of sequences, arithmetic sequence and geometric sequence.
  6. Trigonometry and plane geometry – trigonometric functions, trigonometric identities, solving triangles, areas of triangle, square, rectangle, parallelogram, trapezoid and circle; similarity and congruence of triangles, Pythagorean theorem and Thales' theorem.
  7. Analytic geometry in the Cartesian plane – equation of a line, relative positions of lines, equation of a circle, relative positions of a line and a circle, and relative positions of two circles.
  8. Probability and statistics – classical probability, arithmetic mean, weighted mean, median, mode.
  9. Optimization – optimization problems described by a quadratic function.

The exam will be conducted remotely (online) in the form of a test using the FORMS tool. It will consist of 20 multiple-choice questions. The time limit is 30 minutes.

Technical requirements:

The candidate must have a stable internet connection and a computer or laptop equipped with a working webcam and microphone. The exam should be taken in a well-lit room, without the presence of third parties. Before the exam begins, the candidate may be asked to verify the identity (e.g. by showing an ID document in front of the camera).

Rules during the exam:

During the exam, it is forbidden to use any additional materials (books, notes, mobile devices, internet search engines, etc.) or to receive assistance from others. The candidate is required to complete the test independently. In case of an internet disconnection, the candidate should immediately attempt to reconnect to the exam session. Any suspected violation of the exam rules will be recorded and verified.

Consequences of rule violations:

Any attempt to complete the test dishonestly, use unauthorized aids, or disrupt the exam will result in invalidation of the exam. Failure to pass the exam or the candidate's absence during the exam will result in exclusion from further stages of the recruitment process.
