A University Friendly to All
The University of Rzeszów is a community committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive academic environment for all its members including students, academic staff, and administrative personnel. Rooted in the values of academic integrity, openness, and human dignity, and inspired by best practices from leading higher education institutions, the University remains responsive to the diverse needs of its community.
This commitment is aligned with key international frameworks, including:
- the UNESCO Recommendation on Science and Scientific Researchers (2017),
- the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020–2025,
- and the European Commission’s Horizon Europe requirements for institutional Gender Equality Plans.
To uphold these principles, the University has established dedicated internal bodies that provide assistance in challenging situations, including interpersonal conflicts and instances of unequal treatment. These units are designed to facilitate constructive resolution of issues and promote fairness, equality, and mutual respect.
One of the key initiatives in this area is the establishment of the Office for Equal Treatment and the appointment of the Rector’s Representative for Equal Treatment.
The Office serves as a central point of contact for all reports of discrimination and harassment, including those involving alleged violations of University policies such as the Gender-Based Misconduct Policy and the Protection of Minors Policy. It is responsible for reviewing, investigating, and managing incidents from initial report to final resolution, regardless of whether the respondent is a student, faculty member, staff member, or University affiliate.
In addition to its investigative function, the Office provides organizational support to several key bodies within the University, including the Academic Ombudsperson, the Rector’s Representatives for Equal Treatment and for Counteracting Mobbing and Corruption, as well as elected members of the supporting commissions.
The Office also assists individuals in arranging meetings with the Ombudsperson or designated representatives. For those uncertain about whom to approach with their concerns, the Office offers confidential guidance and helps direct cases to the appropriate channels.
