Tematyka badawcza: Badania koncentrują się na ekologii, taksonomii i biogeografii okrzemek lądowych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem obszaru Europy oraz Azji Południowo-Wschodniej. Istotnym kierunkiem prac jest analiza zbiorowisk okrzemek związanych z nietypowymi i ekstremalnymi siedliskami, w tym źródłami wód mineralnych oraz specyficznymi środowiskami polskich Karpat, gdzie dokumentowane jest występowanie gatunków mikroendemicznych i ekstremofilnych. Zainteresowania badawcze obejmują one również izolację okrzemek z różnych typów środowisk oraz optymalizację warunków ich hodowli w kulturach laboratoryjnych. Celem badań jest lepsze zrozumienie procesów różnicowania, adaptacji i rozmieszczenia okrzemek w środowiskach lądowych i przejściowych oraz wykorzystywanie ich w analizach środowiskowych, rekonstrukcjach warunków siedliskowych oraz monitoringu zmian ekologicznych.
