The topic of my dissertation is „Prisoners' rights in international human rights law and the jurisprudence of international courts”.

I am a PhD student in the discipline of law. My research interests concern international human rights, especially prisoners’ rights in international human rights.

International regulations regarding the execution of penalties, including imprisonment and other penal measures consist of recommendations, conventions and other international documents. They express the universal system of values. Standards understood in this way should be constantly raised in the national legal system and in penitentiary practice. Respecting human rights is one of the most important properties of a democratic state. The methods developed in this system are intended to serve the state ensuring proper quality of life for prisoners. This allows the punishment to be carried out correctly, in accordance with the principle of respect for their personal dignity. The implementation of international regulations into the internal law of states is also very significant. It is therefore justified to conduct a comprehensive analysis of international regulations in this respect, in terms of their effectiveness and impact on the internal law of countries (including Poland) and their penitentary practice.

The doctoral thesis will consist of six chapters preceded by an introduction and ending with a conclusion. The result of this research will be the development of a monograph containing the characteristics of prisoners' rights in particular human rights systems, which will constitute a contribution to the development of the science of international human rights law.
